Chris is a Chartered Marketer and Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Member. Chris has a law degree from Northumbria University, qualified as a solicitor in 1995 and subsequently became a partner. In each of his roles, as well as managing a significant litigation practice, he was heavily involved in marketing and business development.
Having discovered a passion for professional services marketing, Chris studied towards CIM qualifications, culminating in the CIM Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing. Chris was presented with the Top International Student award by CIM President Lord Heseltine and a Certificate of Merit from The Worshipful Company of Marketors.
Chris went on to complete a second Post Graduate Diploma, this time in Digital Marketing with the Digital Marketing Institute. Recognising the value of robust project management skills, Chris qualified as a Prince2 Project Manager.
Following his transition from litigation to marketing, Chris joined one of the largest personal injury solicitor firms in the UK, working closely with insurers, brokers and corporates.
Chris then worked as a Business Development and Marketing Manager at a leading barristers' chambers. He oversaw a period of unprecedented growth, engaging with high street, national and international law firms, insurers, in-house legal teams at corporates, local authorities, NHS, CPS, police and agencies such as the Environment Agency, HSE and regulatory bodies including the GMC, HCPC and NMC.
Calling on his extensive industry experience, Chris works closely with clients and the Cal Partners' team to develop effective and workable marketing strategies, as well as project managing the tailored tactics to ensure their successful deployment. Clients welcome the rare combination of Chris' hands-on professional services delivery experience and marketing expertise and qualifications.
In addition to his role at Cal Partners, Chris mentors budding entrepreneurs as part of the Northumbria University Student and Graduate Enterprise programme. He also delivers a wide range of talks and lectures at Newcastle, Northumbria and Leeds Beckett Universities, as well as to business networks such as the Chamber of Commerce and professional bodies, including the Association of Accounting Technicians. Chris is also regularly asked to join judging panels of industry awards events, including the North East Marketing Awards and North East Accountancy Awards.
Outside of work, Chris enjoys an eclectic mix of music, including curating a large collection of vinyl. He also likes spending time with his family and travelling, particularly to Italy and Florida. Having spent some time growing up near Waterloo, Chris has a keen interest in military history, including the Napoleonic Wars and the Roman Empire. Chris was born in Missouri, USA and has met Salvador Dali and Ella Fitzgerald!
